Green Oak is a great place to live- nice
neighborhoods, easy highway access
to five major cities in an hour or less, great parks, wonderful water
resources, good schools, pleasant nearby towns... and no way to get
anywhere but by car.
What's missing from this picture?
Growth has brought more and more traffic, and more and more danger to
walkers and bikers.
To become a great community, Green Oak needs connections. Not motorized
connections, but walkable, bikeable connections that tie our
neighborhoods together with our parks and schools and towns, and help
knit our community together.
Trails do more than get us safely around the bustling traffic. They
bring us together in subtle ways.
A "Hi, how are you" as we pass - a helping hand - a shared moment of
appreciation for a small natural wonder. These are the little things
that help us learn to appreciate our neighbors, and ourselves. These are
the things that we sorely miss as we pass anonymously on the busy roads.
Join us in our efforts to develop trails to connect Green Oak
neighborhoods with our parks, schools, and neighboring communities. We
are working with Township government, planners, and various state and
national organizations to create a comprehensive trail plan for our
township, and to help facilitate its construction.
Opportunities abound with the rapid development in some areas of Green
Oak - and some must be jumped on NOW, or we will lose them.
